How did the Estonian people actually react to the German occupation? To find out, we will mainly look at the reports of the German security police, which were compiled to convey local sentiments. What disturbed the Estonian people the most? Why were they afraid of a new Soviet occupation like fire? German authorities in folk folklore. Economic difficulties. German propaganda. Relations between Germans and Estonians. Rumors. How did the people react to reports from the front? For three years (1941-44), the territory of Estonia was occupied by National Socialist Germany. This is a relatively short period between two Soviet occupations.
