At the very beginning of their activities, the guys were asked to repair the MTLB tracked all-terrain vehicle. First one, then another, and off we went. Today, the plant's production line includes a tracked all-terrain vehicle similar to the GAZ-71 for hunting and fishing. In this series, we will show you an overview of the all-terrain vehicle and its production. In an interview, the director of the IZGT plant, Alexander Gorin, told how he and his team started their business. At first, he was simply asked to repair an old tracked transporter. Then Alexander did not yet know that in a few years he would be serially producing new Russian all-terrain vehicles from scratch. Repair of a motorized vehicle from an ordinary garage grew into a real young developing production. The guys did not give up repairing the MTLB. Currently, IZGT's large portfolio of orders is occupied by major repairs of the MTLB and its units. There are workshops for major repairs of diesel engines and fuel equipment. The plant's specialists repair not only tracked all-terrain vehicles, but also Ural and ZIL vehicles. Today, from a garage of several people, where the old Motolyga was once repaired, the Irkutsk Plant of Tracked Vehicles has grown to 200 employees. Several years ago, like-minded people bought an old motor transport enterprise in the suburbs of Irkutsk. Much has already been done at the enterprise, much has been restored, but no less remains to be done. Today, IZGT serially produces the Wolverine all-terrain vehicle. For those of you who have a special role in your life when it comes to tracked vehicles, you should know the legendary GAZ 71 all-terrain vehicle. The GAZ was widely used in the vast expanses of our endless north along with the GAZ 34039, MT LB and GT SM. In general, wherever there is off-road and at the same time there is oil, gas or gold, nothing can replace the GTT all-terrain vehicle. The tracked all-terrain vehicle Wolverine is an updated GAZ 71, I did not remember all the advantages of this model over its predecessors, but I remember two of the main ones: Wolverine is a floating all-terrain vehicle, and it also fits in the width of a truck body. I will note that the tracked special equipment of this class, produced earlier, was not large, which made it difficult to deliver to the destination. I rode on the Wolverine all-terrain vehicle, of course, the feelings are unusual, quite noisy when compared with a regular truck, but the off-road qualities of the machine are unique. As Alexander Gorin, the director of the plant, said, they are constantly working on improving ergonomics, sound insulation, transmission, but at the same time they understand that the snow and swamp vehicle should be easy to maintain and repair, because where such equipment is used there are no service centers, and someone's life may depend on how quickly the swamp vehicle is repaired. One of the principles that the plant's specialists follow when developing their equipment is that all-terrain vehicles should be reliable and easy to repair like the legendary Motolyga. The IZGT plant plans to fully mass-produce the Battleship all-terrain vehicle. If you compare this all-terrain vehicle with the Wolverine, it has larger dimensions and a higher load capacity. Currently, this vehicle is manufactured individually. At the time of my visit to the plant, two bright orange all-terrain fuel tanker vehicles were being assembled in the workshop. I wish the plant further development. To produce and improve MTLB analogues for the gold mining and oil and gas industries. Motolyga and its analogues are certainly needed, such equipment will always be in demand off-road. But it is also necessary to develop new areas of activity: to master more affordable all-terrain vehicles for hunting and fishing. I wish to develop and launch into production an inexpensive tracked all-terrain vehicle for mass consumption. I wish the employees of the IZGT plant development and prosperity.
