Using a camping stove in a tent can be very dangerous. Several people are known to have died from it, and there have also been many near-misses reported. ☠ However, using gas stoves in well-ventilated tunnel tents is a relatively established practice in small circles, although there are differences in the methods of operation. Petteri had rented 3 different carbon monoxide detectors and we were able to conduct tests for one day. It is good to note that we ultimately had quite a bit of time to test during one day ☝️ Based on our tests, however, the MSR Whisperlite and XGK EX stoves produced significantly less carbon monoxide if the pot was raised a little higher than the standard stove brackets allow 🙌 In the video, I do not want to judge or recommend any particular method of operation. My intention is to share my experience in an effort to understand the subject as deeply as possible in order to be able to make the solutions and practices that I see as best for myself 💎 Although the video already warns about the toxicity of methanol and urges you to consider using other fuels, let me reiterate: Methanol is toxic when inhaled and through skin contact. Although methanol burns cleanly, the added benefit is probably not more important than the risks associated with its toxicity. Remember to check out our expedition website 🙌 arktinentaival.fi After the filming day, Petteri continued his own tests, which you can read about here: https://www.wildadventuresnorth.fi/l/...
