The house of an imaginative designer, 'Book Producer' Inami is called 'the designer of designers'. This is because of her work as a book producer and her ability as a planner and director at 'Gwangju Design Biennale' and 'Seoul Design Week'. Inami's 'house' began in 2013 when the Paju Book City 2nd Complex Development Plan was announced. The proposal she submitted after much hesitation passed the final review. Inami said that at first, she thought that if she made a request, the architect would design a wonderful house for her. However, she learned after the work progressed that in order for the architect to design the perfect house, the client must be clear about what kind of house they want. Only then did she start to think about 'what kind of house should I build', but in order to answer that question, she had to first come up with an answer to 'how to live'. Inami said that she started to gradually re-establish her life from then on. It started as a design studio, but it was transformed into a living space when the pandemic began in 2019. The residential spaces created here and there to help you focus while working are starting to do their part. The house in the shape of the letter 'Mi-eum' has an entrance that crosses the courtyard to create an independent space. The designer's unique sense is also evident in the bathroom. Above the bathroom door is a picture of 'Underwear for Men and Women' by his younger brother, who is a professor at a design school in the United States. In addition, the locking mechanism is a method of inserting a tree branch into the fine groove of the sliding door to prevent the door from opening. This is said to be a great idea that one of the employees came up with during a meeting with the designers during the design studio days. Inami's designs are not limited to works of art. She also considers 'relationship design' with the people she cherishes important. One of the most representative examples is 'Noah'! Inami describes her relationship with Noah as her daughter's daughter. Inami thought that calling her granddaughter and grandmother could suppress her originality and individuality. That is why she called Noah 'Noah' and 'Nami' from the moment she was born. Now, Nami and Noah are the best friends in the world. Inami designs lives beyond book design. We invite you to a house where the designer's imagination is in full bloom. A Glass Artist's House that Shines Hotly Glass artist Annalisa and Hong Sung-hwan fell in love while studying abroad in Finland and got married in 2005. They stayed in Finland until they had their first daughter, but Annalisa came to Korea because she wanted to live in her husband's country for a while. She thought her life in Korea would last only three years, but she moved her studio from Seoul to Namyangju and has continued to this day. Around 2007, the couple decided to build a house that would be both their home and studio. However, they took a wrong turn on their way to Yangpyeong, their destination, and ended up in Namyangju. They went to a real estate agency thinking, "Since I'm here, let's just look at one more place," and they were shown the current house site. They left the basic design to a professional, but Hong Sung-hwan did most of the construction himself. Hong Sung-hwan's unique sense can be seen throughout the house. He hated the flat floor, so he left the gaps between the bricks on the floor, but when the heels of his guests’ shoes kept slipping into them, he had to fill them. He could have simply filled them with resin, but Hong Seong-hwan thought of a different way. He filled them with pebbles the kids had picked up in the yard, waste glass from work, and photos of the kids and their dog Maru. The kitchen was the same. When he couldn’t find a sink he liked, he installed a brass bowl from the market as a sink and created a sink he had never seen before. The highlight of this house is the furnace and studio that take up the largest space past the living room. When he first built the house, he calculated the space for the furnace and gradually expanded the other parts around the furnace. Annalisa says the furnace is the “heart” of this house.
