On 20 January 2024, after more than 16 years, the FTC was reconnected to the national network and to the centre of Turin. RFI took over for the infrastructure and Trenitalia for the commercial service. Initially, 3 lines will pass: Lines 4 and 7 from Alba and Fossano, both terminating in Cirié, and Line A from Cirié to Germagnano; however, this will be temporary as beyond Cirié, work will still have to be done to allow lines 4 and 7 to arrive directly at Germagnano, which they cannot do at the moment due to a weight problem with the trains that operate them. In fact, SFMs 4 and 7 mainly operate with double-decker TAFs, while SFM A is operated with Minuetti in double composition, therefore smaller and lighter trains. As for the Germagnano - Ceres line, this section of the line is still interrupted as an intervention on the level crossings requested by RFI is necessary to certify the line. In short, there will still be some work to do to see the FTC fully operational, considering that once the work is finished, the SFM 4 will be terminated at Germagnano and the SFM 7 at Ceres, and this means that the SFM A, operational since 2012, will say goodbye to us (it should have already been suppressed by the closure of the line in June 2023, but it remained active, limiting itself to operating on the section from Cirié to Germagnano precisely for the reason of the change at Cirié). In the future, the SFM 3 from Bardonecchia/Susa and the SFM 6 from Asti should also be routed on the FTC to be theoretically terminated at Caselle airport using the two truncated tracks of the station that have never been used yet.
