Edgar Eisenkolb was born in 1928 in Czechoslovakia in Klösterle an der Eger / Klášterec nad Ohří. In his childhood and youth he was a member of the Jungvolk and the Hitler Youth until he was called into labor service in 1944. From there he went to Leipzig as an anti-aircraft gunner and was taken prisoner of war in 1945. The camp conditions led him to the prisoner of war hospital, from which he was finally released in 1946. The recordings were made in 2021 as part of the project "From the school bench to the war - child soldiers in the Second World War" and were funded by the Federal Ministry of the Interior, Building and Home Affairs.
