This film material was made available to me by the author and journalist Wolfgang Berke. It shows life in Wanne-Eickel before, during and after the Second World War. Ice skating on the Rhine-Herne Canal, where the presenter Rudi Cerne recognized his father doing his pirouettes. Or the work on the canal, old smoking tugs pulling the barges from the Wanne lock to Gelsenkirchen. But there are also terrible images to be seen here, for example the bombed-out Wanne-Eickel in 1943. A personal note for all those who long for such a time: take a close look at these images. I hope that everyone else finds these historical images interesting and informative.
