Memories of Xenitya: He left for 5 years and stayed for 50. Continuing our journey, we met Mr. Tasos, a man with a life full of memories, difficulties and joys. Born in 1952 in Eleftheriani Nafpaktia, he told us about his childhood, a time full of deprivation. Raised in a large family with 6 children, Mr. Tasos remembers being deprived of basic goods such as food and clothing. At the age of 12, he wore store-bought shoes for the first time, while at school they wrote on blackboards, eagerly waiting for someone from America to bring them notebooks. Life in the village was difficult. Without roads until 1960, Eleftheriani was isolated from the rest of the world. Mr. Tasos remembers seeing a car for the first time at the age of 8. Despite the difficulties, Mr. Tassos managed to study foreman in Athens. After his military service, he decided to emigrate to America, leaving his homeland and family behind. The day of separation remains etched in his memory, full of emotion and tears. Life in America was not easy. The language was a big obstacle, forcing him to attend school to learn it. He worked hard, mostly in restaurants, until he managed to open his own shop. He married, raised a family and lived in America for 50 years. Nevertheless, the thought of the homeland never left him. As an active member of the Greek community, he kept the morals and customs of Greece alive by listening to Greek songs every day. Today, now retired, Mr. Tasos spends as much time as possible in his beloved Eleftheriani, the village that gave birth and raised him. His story is a story of strength, perseverance and love for the country. #μετάναστης #ιστορίεσζωής #ξενιτια #greekvillagelife ••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••• ••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••• ????⚠️It is prohibited to download, modify and use excerpts or entire videos for any reason.
