Did you know that there is a French territory in South America? When I discovered it, it caught my attention. And in this video I am going to talk about this curious territory. It is French Guiana, a region and French overseas department, which is part of the French Republic, and therefore, also of the European Union. It has a population of about 260,000 inhabitants. The surface of its territory is just under 84,000 km2, and therefore, it has a VERY LOW population density, of 3.3 inhabitants per km2. To give us an idea, in Spain, we have a population density of 94 inhabitants per km2, and in Mexico about 57 (inhab/km2). And yes, despite being in South America, it is like continental France: Its official currency is the euro, the license plates of the vehicles are French, the nationality of its inhabitants is French... We even find the same supermarkets as in France. This territory shares a border with Suriname, Brazil and the Atlantic Ocean. Of all this, what is surprising is the idea of being, for example, in Brazil and crossing into Europe, in this case France. Let's see what this border is like.
