FC Twente – Ajax (1968), the most beautiful Sunday in Het Diekman. The special is about the 'famous' match that FC Twente played against Ajax in 1968 (5-1), a match in which everything came together for the club and its supporters. In the documentary, Kees Rijvers, Eddy Achterberg and Theo Pahlplatz take the viewer back to a brilliant season of FC Twente, which still ended on a minor note. Martin Peters and Freddy 'Golden' Gaasbeek, who were at the cradle of the club song 'FC Twente ay ay ay ay', also have their say, as do supporters Frits and Theo Ketzener, from the Enschede district of Gaskrim, and former textile worker Johan Meijer. From 1965, the year the club was founded, FC Twente built a strong team. Under coach Kees Rijvers, who came to Enschede in 1966, the search for the perfect balance in a young selection gained momentum. In the 1968-1969 season, the third year under Rijvers, that balance was found.
