Stretching your glutes. Is it necessary? Absolutely. Tension (trigger points) in your glutes can cause a number of complaints. But they can also cause a lack of mobility in the hips. For an overview, a number of situations in which you can benefit from performing these stretching exercises for your glutes: ✔️ For pain or stiffness in your hips. ✔️ For instability while walking (up and down stairs) or performing exercises such as lunges. ✔️ For back problems where the actual core of the problem lies with the glutes. ✔️ When you cannot make progress during exercises such as the hip thruster, squat and deadlift. I will show you two exercises in which you use your arms and hands to stretch the glutes. These are common exercises and there is basically nothing wrong with them. The only tricky thing is that you are dependent on the strength in your hands when stretching your glutes. If you don't have enough strength, it won't be of much use to you. That's why I'll also show you two alternative exercises where you use your body weight to find the stretch. It's important to note: don't stop stretching too soon.
