Four-masted barque PEKING - installation of the last spars With the gaffs on the mizzen mast, the last spars on board the PEKING have also been installed and with the 18 yards, the historical appearance of the four-masted barque is almost complete again. Joachim Kaiser (member of the board of the Hamburg Maritim Foundation) and Georg Albinus (managing director of GEORG ALBINUS Boatbuilding & Rigging GmbH) explain the function of the gaffs and the craftsmanship used by the riggers for the restoration. The gaffs have always been made of wood and were rebuilt as such. A special feature is the procurement of the wooden spars. All masts and wooden spars have always been cut by the Hamburg Maritim Foundation in the Rosengarten forestry office near Harburg. More information: https://stiftung-hamburg-maritim.de/s... There is also an overview of calendar images with background information from Joachim Kaiser. You can find the SHM shop here: https://shop.stiftung-hamburg-maritim.de Special thanks go to the members of the Bundestag Johannes Kahrs and Rüdiger Kruse, whose commitment made the PEKING project possible in the first place. Thanks also to the Federal Government Commissioner for Culture and Media for the funding and support and to the Hamburg Authority for Culture and Media for helping with the implementation. The Hamburg Maritim Foundation is responsible for the restoration and will remain the owner of the PEKING until it is handed over to the Hamburg Historical Museums Foundation. #PEKING #Four-mastedbarque #StiftungHamburgMaritim #Sailingship #FlyingPLiner #Tallsailingship #Fourmaster #Museumship #TallsailingshipPEKING #FourmasterPEKING #Hansahafen #Harbor #Hamburg #Elbe #Volunteering #peterswerft +++++++++++++++++++++ Hamburg Maritim Foundation https://www.stiftung-hamburg-maritim.de
