The founding and election of the board of the "Sri Lankan Bhikkhu Association in Europe" took place in Vienna in mid-May as part of a three-day conference. Bhante Dr. Seelawansa Wijayarajapura Maha Thero, head of the Dhamma Center Nyanaponika Vienna, was elected as the first president of the new association. He was not only the patron of the event, but also celebrated his 70th birthday at the same time. 36 monks and nuns from all over Europe, Asia and the USA took part in this international conference. It was the largest gathering on European soil to date. The aim of the association is to spread the Dharma even more actively in Europe. The next conference will take place in Milan in 2024.
