Former Army and Air Force commanders revealed to the Federal Police this Thursday (21) that Jair Bolsonaro was responsible for presenting the coup d'état plan. The investigation being conducted by the Supreme Federal Court had as one of its axes the testimonies of Marco Antônio Freire Gomes and Carlos de Almeida Baptista Júnior. After his defeat to Lula in 2022, the then president called meetings at the Palácio da Alvorada with the presence of the Armed Forces. The meetings were also attended by former Defense Minister Paulo Sérgio Nogueira. Gomes stated that he opposed the plan and that two versions of a draft coup were presented to him. According to the PF, the version was confirmed by Lieutenant Brigadier Baptista Júnior, who stated that if it were not for the general's refusal, the plot would probably have come to fruition.
