The Mörfelden fire department was alerted to a forest fire at Gundhof on Sunday, August 9th, 2020 at 4:21 p.m. to support the Walldorf fire department. A total of 19 hectares of forest were burning there by the end of the operation six days later. The operation was made more difficult by a storm that passed over the fire site and by detonating ammunition from the Second World War. Fraport AG initially provided sufficient water, and later a water supply was relocated to the Walldorf bathing area. The water level of the lake had dropped by around 40 cm by the end of the extinguishing work. At peak times, up to 14,000 liters of water were sprayed into the fire site. A total of around 10,000,000 liters of water were needed. All fire departments from the Groß-Gerau district, the city of Frankfurt, the districts of Offenbach, Darmstadt-Dieburg, Main-Taunus, Rheingau-Taunus, the company Infraserv. of Fraport AG and the police flight squadron with two helicopters with fire extinguishers were on duty. In addition to the DRK OV Mörfelden-Walldorf, the catering train of the DRK of the Groß-Gerau district provided the food.
