Flores, a beautiful island in East Nusa Tenggara (NTT), has significant geothermal energy potential, with a capacity of up to 902 MW spread across 16 locations. One of the most well-known projects is the Ulumbu Geothermal Power Plant (PLTP), which has been supplying electricity to Manggarai Regency and surrounding areas since 2012. However, despite this progress, many parts of Flores still suffer from electricity shortages, highlighting the urgent need to explore and develop local renewable energy sources. Geothermal energy is not only a reliable and sustainable source of energy, but it also helps Indonesia move closer to its Net Zero Emission goal. The stable supply of geothermal energy makes it ideal for continuous power generation. In addition to reducing dependence on fossil fuels, geothermal energy has a much lower carbon footprint. With increasing investment, Indonesia is already a world leader in geothermal energy production, significantly reducing carbon emissions and contributing to global climate goals. #flores #geothermal #panasbumi #nationalgeographic Videographer: Ricky Martin Zulfikar Muin Video Editor: Ricky Martin . .
