ADX Florence is a United States federal prison located in the state of Colorado. It is intended for highly dangerous and high-risk prisoners who require strict isolation and supervision. ADX Florence is also known as "Supermax" or "Alcatraz of the Rockies". ADX Florence has 490 prison cells and about 460 inmates who are mainly very notorious criminals. Prisoners spend most of their time alone in small and completely soundproof cells with little natural light and ventilation. The purpose of ADX Florence is to keep prisoners away from other people and society so that they cannot cause further harm or danger.
