In this video, we explore the stunning story of Flight 571, also known as the Tragedy of the Andes. On October 13, 1972, a Uruguayan Air Force plane carrying a rugby team and their friends and families crashed in the icy Andes Mountains. Twelve people lost their lives immediately, and the extreme conditions led to a further 17 deaths over the course of days. What followed, however, was a testament to human resilience and strength. Of the 45 passengers, 16 managed to survive for an impressive 72 days at altitudes of up to 3,000 meters, facing temperatures reaching -30ºC and a critical lack of food. As time went by, the fight for survival forced them to make unimaginable decisions, including cannibalism. Among the survivors was young cardiologist Roberto Canessa, who stood out in finding solutions and hope in the midst of despair. Join us on this exciting journey of overcoming, where we will see how the human spirit can prevail even in the darkest situations.
