Game explanation Masked Singer: The Masked Singer is a Dutch television program that is broadcast by RTL 4 and is based on the South Korean program King of Mask Singer. The program is presented by Ruben Nicolai, who is assisted by panel members Gerard Joling, Buddy Vedder, Carlo Boszhard, Loretta Schrijver and Monica Geuze. The program will be broadcast annually in the fall from 2019. In the program, a selected group of famous Dutch people will compete in a singing battle with each other while wearing masks. Under the leadership of presenter Ruben Nicolai, all candidates will give a singing performance. The participants will be masked in an exuberant costume and will be named after it. Before a participant performs, a short film will be shown in which he or she will give a number of hints about their own identity in a distorted voice; not all hints given will match. This film will be subtitled for the viewers, so that they can also read the hints in case they cannot understand them properly. The participant will then perform masked and sing live for the audience and the jury. This singing will be done without the voice being distorted. The jury consists of Gerard Joling, Buddy Vedder, Carlo Boszhard, Loretta Schrijver and Monica Geuze. These five jury members/panel members must try to guess who is in the costumes. After the singing, the jury may jointly ask the participant a question, which is answered as briefly as possible with a distorted voice. The jury members may then speculate who they expect to perform in the masked costume. After an audience vote, 2 masked singers disappear from the stage every week in the 'preliminary rounds'.
