FIQH OF ISTIGHFAR Ustadz Ammi Nur Baits حفظهُ الله تعالى ????️ Wednesday, December 4, 2024 ???? ANB Channel Studio, Krajan, Sleman In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful, the Most Merciful Continuing the discussion of the book of tazkiyatun nafs in the chapter on the fiqh of istighfar, after discussing various poisons for the liver, then how to treat it starting from dhikrullah to tilawatul Qur'an. Then the author explains about istighfar, where istighfar is asking for help, a form of maghfirah to protect oneself from the bad effects of sin in addition to covering the sin. Istighfar means asking for maghfirah, meaning covering, so al maghfirah is defined as avoiding the bad effects of sin, meaning forgiveness and being covered. Sin already exists, its bad effects are removed and covered by Allah so that one is not embarrassed by the sin. Some related terms include; 1. Rahmat; forgiveness for future sins 2. Afwu; forgiveness without demands 3. Maghfirah; forgiveness of past sins The Prophets were commanded to seek forgiveness including the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, as Allah says in Surah An-Nasr Verse 3 So glorify the praises of your Lord and ask forgiveness of Him. Indeed, He is the One Who accepts repentance. Then the next proposition is the word of Allah سبحانه و تعالى in Surah Muhammad Verse 19 فَٱعْلَمْ أَنَّهُۥ لَآ إِلَٰهَ إِلَّا ٱللَّهُ وَٱسْتَغْفِرْ لِذَنۢبِكَ وَلِلْمُؤْمِنِينَ Meaning: So know that there is no god (worthy of worship) except Allah, and ask forgiveness for your sins and for the believing men and believing women. And Allah knows your means and your residence. In a hadith it is mentioned And indeed, we counted the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) in one assembly saying the following (prayer) 100 times: O Lord! Forgive me and accept my repentance. Indeed, You are the Acceptor of repentance, the Most Merciful. [Narrated by Muslim] Abu Daud, at-Tirmidzi, al-Bukhâri in al-Adabul Mufrad from Ibn Umar Radhiyallahu anhuma Istighfar is always coupled with repentance, when it is then istighfar asking for forgiveness verbally while repentance is understood as a form of leaving sin both in deeds and inwardly, there is no desire to repeat it at another time. True repentance is repentance outwardly and inwardly, because there are those who repent inwardly but outwardly cannot leave such as people who are caught in usury debt. Wallahu'alam
