#FilizGazi Journalist Filiz Gazi, in her book, Invisible Community: Disciples, published by Tekin Publishing House, boldly addresses the role women undertake in the closed religious structures of Turkey. She reveals that women serve as a silent but powerful support in the secret structures that have only been discussed in terms of male sheikhs and disciples until now. However, this silence contains a great tragedy: Women who have internalized the idea that “a disciple should be like a corpse” become the carriers of both submission and the continuity of this order.” Gazi’s statements slap us in the face with the cold reality of this world: “A submission is demanded, like a dead body being submitted to its washer. Women are forced to obey without question.” However, the issue is not just submission. Women are organized within these structures, become part of the control mechanisms, and display a silent resistance or acceptance in a dark cycle that extends from child marriages to psychological violence. With Filiz Gazi, we went behind the closed doors of religious orders and witnessed the silent screams of female disciples and how these structures were integrated into the socio-economic order. While discussing the deep effects of the religious order on women, the following words that Gazi said at the end of the interview hit like a slap: “Women are not only the carriers of oppression, but also of the order that sustains this oppression. It is not possible to talk about freedom without confronting this tragedy.” Click to subscribe to the T24 YouTube channel: https://bit.ly/3sQke2C Click for Other Videos: https://t24.com.tr/video Join this channel to benefit from the privileges: / @t24 T24 ► http://www.t24.com.tr/ Instagram ► / t24comtr Facebook ► / t24comtr Twitter ► / t24comtr
