Twitter @juangangel Our visit to the Agroeures cattle farm, we observed the work that is being carried out in the production model and the importance of the Gyr and Girolando breeds to improve the levels in dairy farms in the Colombian low tropics. It comes from the Kathiawar peninsula in India, a region with a very warm climate, very poor and dry soils. This breed actively participated in the formation of the Red Brahman and Indubrasil breeds. The dairy Gyr offers the modern rancher the alternative of crossbreeding to produce dual-purpose cattle. It is known that the first Gyr cattle in America were taken to Brazil, a country where it spread widely throughout the continent. In fact, the Gyr breed outside of India is found mainly in Brazil, Colombia, Mexico, Panama, Nicaragua, Honduras, Costa Rica, El Salvador, Paraguay, among others.
