The monumental cemetery of the Certosa di Ferrara filmed with Sony a65 in 1080p. The monumental cemetery of the Certosa di Ferrara is the main cemetery of the city. The complex (which also includes the church of San Cristoforo alla Certosa) was originally founded as a Carthusian monastery in 1452, at the behest of Borso d'Este, and arose, as per tradition, outside the walls (in that period the city walls did not extend further north than the axis then occupied by the Giovecca course). After the monastery was closed, following the Napoleonic suppressions, the monks were expelled and the buildings were used as military barracks. It was then purchased by the municipality of Ferrara and definitively transformed into a city cemetery starting in 1813. With the earthquake that hit the city of Ferrara on 20 and 29 May 2012, many parts of the historic structure were damaged and were closed to the public due to the risk of collapse and therefore cordoned off. In the monumental cemetery there are many funerary monuments of important personalities or works of famous artists: -Tomb of Michelangelo Antonioni. -First funerary monument and new funerary monument of -Giovanni Boldini. -Funeral monument of Leopoldo Cicognara, work of Antonio Canova. -Tomb of Borso d'Este. -Tomb of Benvenuto Tisi da Garofalo -Tomb of Carlo Mayr (Wikipedia)
