New personal equipment and clothing - for everyone in the Bundeswehr By the end of 2025, all active soldiers in the Bundeswehr are to receive new personal equipment and clothing. Whether it's the armed forces combat clothing set, the MOBAST modular ballistic protection and carrying equipment for soldiers' protective vest system or the new modular backpack system: a lot is being modernized. The goal for personal equipment and clothing is full equipment. To achieve this, the Bundeswehr is procuring an additional 122,000 new combat helmets and 305,000 MOBAST modular ballistic protection and carrying equipment for soldiers' systems, 150,000 armed forces combat clothing sets and 250,000 new modular backpack systems. The cost is around 2.4 billion euros. Thanks to the special fund, procurement could be carried out more extensively and more quickly. A gradual introduction by 2031 was originally planned.
