One of the four parishes in the Zagreb Archdiocese dedicated to Blessed Alojzije Stepinac, it is located in Rakitje, in Zagreb County, and, in addition to Rakitje, also includes the settlements of Bestovje and Novake, and has a population of about six thousand people. It was founded by a decree of Zagreb Archbishop Josip Bozanić on 1 September 2001, and was created by the dismemberment of the Parish of the Holy Trinity in Sveta Nedelja. The first parish administrator, Rev. Zlatko Koren, a former chaplain in the Sveta Nedelja parish, lived in Kerestinec because the hall of the school and the fire station were used as worship spaces in the Parish of Blessed Alojzije Stepinac. The faithful also gathered in the old chapel of St. Andrew, which is located near the current church. In the fall of 2004, the current parish priest Božidar Cindori took over the management of the parish, who, thanks to his almost two decades of service in this parish, has been following its development since the time when there was neither a church nor a rectory.
