As a psychiatrist (CRM/SP 100.674), I am always reflecting on our mind and behavior. On my Instagram (www.instagram.com/danielmbarros) you can see some reflections that make our daily lives better. Take a look and follow me to get closer. Are you afraid of ghosts and spirits? You may have a phobia of the supernatural, also called spectrophobia. It is not yet a recognized disease, but a series of reports and facts have just been published by a researcher, neurologist Ricardo Oliveira Souza. He once treated a patient who reported that after treatment with medication, his fear of ghosts and the afterlife improved, a fear that prevented him from doing many things. The researcher began to investigate and discovered that more people have this fear – and in some of them, this fear reached the level of a phobia, an exaggerated and irrational fear that hinders the person's life. Now Souza has published a post about this, reporting interesting facts: among the patients with the phobia, there was an executive who did not travel for fear of being alone in hotels. Another patient was a lady who wet the bed because she was afraid of going to the bathroom at night. Phobias are irrational fears that are out of control and can be specific to several things. And the interesting thing is that this was the first time that this specific phobia was highlighted. This is important because we can identify this irrational fear, treat it and live without it. Sometimes, because of the phobia, the person makes several excuses to avoid certain situations, for fear of being the target of jokes and ridicule. But it is important to know that with medical and psychotherapeutic treatment – combined medications and therapies – one can improve a lot and regain quality of life. Maybe you are wondering if you have this phobia, right? Usually this fear of ghosts, monsters, and the supernatural begins in childhood and normally goes away as we grow up. When does it become a phobia? When it doesn't go away and gets out of control, interfering in the person's life and preventing them from carrying out certain activities. Therefore, share this video so that more people know about this and stop suffering. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------- My social networks: -- Facebook: / danielbarrospsiquiatra -- Instagram: / danielmbarros -- Twitter: / danielmbarros Facebook: Daniel Barros Psychiatrist Instagram: @danielmbarros Twitter: @danielmbarros Daniel Martins de Barros RQE 62264 CRM/SP 100.674
