The EU is striving for a common asylum policy that all 27 member states adhere to. But the most recent EU summit in Brussels did not result in anything more than a declaration of intent to urgently introduce new deportation rules and to fight more strongly against the abuse of migration. Relying solely on more isolation and deportations is the wrong approach, says migration researcher Bernd Kasparek. Due to its demographic problems, Germany's economy alone is dependent on up to 400,000 new migrants per year.
