Appointed Chief of Staff by presidential order of December 16, 2024, Lieutenant-General Jules Banza Mwilambwe was installed in his new functions, replacing General Christian Tshiwewe, who became Military Advisor to President Félix Tshisekedi. He received the army standard with words of encouragement from the Head of State, who invited him to serve under the flag until the supreme sacrifice. "I, General Jules Banza Mwilambwe, solemnly swear before the Congolese nation and before the President of the Republic, Supreme Command of the Armed Forces, to respect the Constitution, the laws of the Republic, to carry out with loyalty and honor all the missions entrusted to me, to devote all my strength and all my know-how to defending the independence, sovereignty and territorial integrity of the #DRC against all forms of military threats, invasion or aggression and this until the supreme sacrifice," declared the new Chief of Staff, during his oath-taking. Before being promoted, Lieutenant-General Jules Banza Mwilambwe had served since 2022 as Deputy Chief of the Military Household of President Félix Tshisekedi, in charge of military operations and intelligence. He also served as deputy commander of the Republican Guard, an elite unit ensuring the protection of the President and Congolese institutions.
