Nicky Wijnants grew up at the fair. His cradle stood in the cash register. His girlfriend Charissa does not come from a fairground family. It was quite a change for her at first. Pierre Swinkels has been involved in the Nederweert fairs for 22 years. He is an operator, but also plays an important role as an organizer. We went for coffee with Ton Maas. Ton lives in Budschop and fairs are really his hobby. Are you going to the fair? Then take a walk through the Beatrixstraat. Ton has set up a miniature fair in front of his window. Jorik Franssen has been the fairground alderman of Nederweert since this year. On Saturday afternoon, Franssen was allowed to open the fair on the Raadhuisplein where the children could collect free tokens.
