Racism and police violence are an age-old problem in France that continues to lead to riots to this day. It is also a problem in the French port city of Marseille: 50 years ago, the city was a magnet for migrants. Even then, they were treated with racism. The immigrants were needed to work because there were not enough skilled workers. Unemployment has grown over the years, and teenagers and young adults with a migrant background have little prospects. Drug-related crime is a major problem, and the violence that comes with it. Gang wars and deadly shootings also affect innocent bystanders. ZDF reporters Antje Pieper and Yaena Kwon meet a mother who lost her son in a shooting - he was in the wrong place at the wrong time.
