When Theodor Friedrich Wilhelm Märklin founded a factory for fine tin toys in Göppingen in 1859, he certainly could not have imagined that it would one day become a world-famous company. It all started with dolls and herds. When Märklin developed the rail-bound wind-up train in 1891, it was only one of many tin toy manufacturers in Germany - but one of the most innovative. And it was to stay that way. Märklin became the largest model railway manufacturer in the world. In 1999, Märklin celebrated its 140th birthday. A film by Hagen v.
