The truck was designed by the Swiss company Soller in 1903 and put into production from 1904 to 1913, after which it was produced, under license from Soller, by the Giorgio Mangiapan company of Milan, which acquired the licenses to be able to faithfully reproduce it. Giorgio Mangiapan's idea was to place it alongside the competitor Pavesi-Tolotti, and the truck was also used during the First World War. Production began in the final years of the First World War and continued until 1919, the year in which the model featured in this film was produced. The first trucks produced in Switzerland had wheels with wooden spokes and bands, while those produced in Milan had more robust metal wheels. It is presented by Leonardo Sordi, an expert in antique mechanics at an international level on engines, carburetors and magnetos, a point of reference for collectors of vintage cars and planes from all over the world, as well as the founder of: IL MAGNETE, a Club not open to the public, reserved for a few selected members. A series of fortunate coincidences have created the basis for being able to offer you this film: On the one hand, learning that a collector I know owned this Soller truck, on the other, having had the opportunity, thanks to a friend, to meet Leonardo who, for work reasons, was in the area and so we were able to produce this video which I hope can be an important document of historical interest. I leave you the email address to ask, if necessary, some questions to Leonardo Sordi [email protected]
