In 1963, the first VT 18.16 was built at VEB Waggonbau-Görlitz. Like its western counterpart, the VT 11.5, it was based on the Kruckenberg design. The new train was approved for 160 km/h and intended for international operation. Eight trains were built by 1968. After extensive research in many film archives, we can now show the history from construction to today's museum train almost without gaps, as well as the scheduled operation at the DR and the last years of operation at the DR and DB. Contemporary witnesses report on the active period. A film tip: https://www.ekshop.de/DVD/DVD/Bahnen-...
