Following its trail, you can feel the presence of the forces of nature that have been carving this corner of the world for thousands of years. Water flowing from the Tatra springs at an altitude of almost 2000 m above sea level cuts into deep valleys, creating a natural border between Poland and Slovakia. This is one of the few natural watercourses in Europe that changes the direction of flow between the two countries over a distance of just 170 km. The Poprad is a strange river that should flow south, but turns and flows north, when most of the rivers there run to the Black Sea basin. Some believe that this is where its name comes from, because in the old Slavic language it is believed that the word Poprad meant "through" or "against the current". This geographical phenomenon is also a real treasure of nature, which is why we decided to set off through the mountains in search of its sources, cycling through the most picturesque corners of the Beskid Sądecki, the Luboweslkie Mountains, the Spiska Magura, all the way to the soaring Tatra peaks. ⛰️ Did we manage to find them?
