Occupational exposure to chemical agents is the contact between the chemical agent and the worker's body, which can occur through the respiratory tract (inhalation), dermal or ocular (contact and/or absorption). Such exposure has the potential to cause local and/or systemic damage to health. The risk of damage to health is reduced through the adoption of several preventive measures, among which the following stand out: 1. Proper use of Personal and Collective Protective Equipment (PPE/CPE): CPE consists of equipment, tools or structures specifically designed to ensure the health and safety of all employees in a work environment. Its main objective is to collectively protect a group of people or a specific space, providing safe conditions and minimizing the risks inherent to the work activity. Among the main CPE we can highlight: Fume hood; Biosafety cabin; Signaling plates; Autoclave; Fire extinguisher; Shower and eye wash; Chemical absorbers; First aid kit; Safety Data Sheet and Containment Basin. 2. Training and awareness: Continuous training of workers, focusing on the correct use of PPE and CPE, as well as the identification and management of risks related to the handling of chemical and biological agents, is essential to ensure safety in the workplace and prevent accidents. These measures, when correctly implemented, contribute significantly to the reduction of chemical and biological risks and ensure the protection of worker health.
