For months, ZDF had been trying to interview Syrskyi, long before he was announced on February 8 as the new commander-in-chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. The chance of conversation ranged from unknown to small. Suddenly, late in the evening, they called and said that the next day he would be ready to talk, the place should be kept secret. Somewhere in eastern Ukraine, ZDF correspondent Katrin Eigendorf met him a few days before President Zelenskyi officially presented him as the new commander-in-chief. He proudly talks about the military successes in the fight against Russia, but also admits that the situation is very tense now. The lack of ammunition is one of the main concerns of the new Commander-in-Chief Syrskyi.
