Willi Mitlstrasser (born 1911) completed an apprenticeship as a butcher in Munich, followed by a master craftsman's examination. He first worked as a driver for the Obersalzberg administration, then became a driver at the Berghof and later Eva Braun's personal chauffeur. Here he met his wife Margarte Mitlstrasser (born 1914), who worked in the Berghof kitchen. Gretl Mitlstrasser increasingly worked for Eva Braun and commuted back and forth between her house in Munich and the Berghof, where she was eventually promoted to housekeeper by Hitler. After marrying Willi Mitlstrasser, which took place at the Berghof, the two were chosen to be house managers. They succeeded Herbert Döhring, who held this position between 1936 and 1943. As permanent employees in Hitler's immediate vicinity, these contemporary witnesses had an extraordinary knowledge of the events at the Berghof. In this interview from 1993, the two reveal their extensive knowledge for the first time. WE NEED YOUR SUPPORT! PATREON: / begafilm Become a patron and get early access to our new videos!
