Evgeny Viktorovich Zharinov (born June 26, 1954, Moscow) is a Soviet and Russian writer, literary scholar, publicist, translator, Doctor of Philology, professor of the Department of World Literature of the Philological Faculty of Moscow Pedagogical University. In 1974, he entered the Philological Faculty of Moscow Pedagogical University, which he graduated with honors in 1979. He taught at school. In 1985, he defended his PhD dissertation on the works of L. N. Tolstoy on the topic "Features of the Psychologism of Late L. N. Tolstoy: from the Caucasian Stories to "Hadji Murat"". He was engaged in the translation of modern novels from English, in particular, he is known as one of the translators of "A Wizard of Earthsea" by Ursula Le Guin and detective stories by Philip Margolin. In 1999 he defended his doctoral dissertation on Western fiction on the topic of “Historical and literary roots of mass fiction”. Member of the Union of Writers of Russia (Moscow city organization).
