Firefighters’ exposure to multiple toxic substances makes them more likely than the general population to develop certain types of cancer. The numbers are alarming. But now it’s their personal protective equipment, which is supposed to protect them, that is being singled out. It contains PFAS, potentially carcinogenic substances also known as eternal pollutants.
