Today's yoga lesson is dedicated to the hips and the iliopsoas muscle that connects the upper body to the lower body. It is a very deep muscle formed by the psoas major that originates in the last thoracic vertebra, continues along the first four lumbar vertebrae and ends in our femur, and by the iliacus muscle that originates in the iliac crest and is inserted into the trochanter of the femur. It is a very important muscle for movement and is the most powerful hip flexor, we need it to stabilize the hips, to walk, to run. It can easily become stiff due to a sedentary lifestyle, but not only that, it is greatly affected by moments of stress and fear, in fact being a muscle linked to the survival instinct, therefore to the need to run, escape and fight, in these moments it tends to remain tense. For this reason it is essential to take care of it and in this yoga lesson we will see how to extend it and free it from tension. Continue practicing with me in the MIYOGA ROOM!
