The Church of St. George in Remšnik was built in the Gothic style. Over the years, it has suffered quite a few disasters - from Turkish invasions, fires and lightning strikes. The cemetery, which is walled around the church, dates back to 1417, and the rectory was built in 1784. The first church was built there in 1165, but has undergone numerous renovations over the years. The parish also has two branch churches, namely the Church of St. Pancratius right on the border with Austria and the Church of St. Urban. From the parish chronicle, we can see that in 1532 the Turks devastated the church and in 1535 new bells were consecrated. In 1863, the church unfortunately burned down and the bells melted. The following year, four bells were purchased, which rang until 1917, when the army took away all the bells during the First World War. In 1924, three new bells were consecrated. World War II again took away all the bells. In 1958, they purchased the existing, already used iron bell from the KID foundry (520kg), which has been ringing to this day. On October 24, 2021, we were able to attend the ceremonial blessing and lifting of the new bells, which were cast by the OMCO Metals Slovenija doo foundry.
