LINK TO DETAILED LIST OF OUTDOOR KITCHEN, MAPS, ELECTRONICS & HYGIENE ITEMS: https://www.vandrakungsleden.se/gasko... After you have acquired your backpack, tent and sleeping solution, which we did in PART 1, it's time to aim focus on the other equipment you need to acquire; gas stove, food, map, hygiene items and electronics for hiking. PART 1 of the video series can be found here: • Equipment For Mountain Hiking [Back... GAS STOVE FOR HIKING For mountain hiking, I recommend a light and compact gas stove whose sole function is to boil water in the fastest possible time, with the least possible energy consumption. The Jetboil Minimo is a fantastically flexible, efficient and compact kitchen that I use myself, and that I highly recommend for all mountain hikers. It weighs little, takes up very little space in your pack, and it boils the crystal clear water from the mountain stream in no time. The Jetboil Minimo is powered by gas consisting of a mixture of propane and isobutane. I recommend you to buy this 100 g gas container as it fits with millimeter precision into the pan that comes with you when you buy your Jetboil Minimo. It saves space in your backpack and you always know exactly where your gas canister is when you start cooking! Also be sure to bring a box of matches in case the spark igniter in the Jetboil goes on strike. It's never happened to me so far, but it's always best to be prepared for unexpected situations on the mountain! FOLDING MUGS, PLATE & CUTLERY You need a folding mug that fits in your hip belt pocket and that you quickly pick up when you pass a stream with fantastic fresh mountain water. When you want to eat freeze-dried directly from the bag, you need a long spoon, either plastic or titanium. If you instead prefer to eat your food from a plate, and if you plan to eat, for example, oatmeal for breakfast or any other dish that does not fall under the category of freeze-dried or other that can be eaten ready-made straight from the package, then you need a collapsible bowl to eat out In that case, I would also recommend a so-called "Spork" in plastic or titanium instead of a long spoon. MAP OF THE KUNGSLEDEN The "Friluftsatlas Kungsleden 1:50.000" map from Calazo covers the ENTIRE Kungsleden! As smooth as possible, and you don't have to spend money on several different maps. HYGIENE & CARE ON MOUNTAIN HIKING It is possible to dip in lakes and mountain streams along the entire Kungsleden, and the majority of STF's mountain cabins along the Kungsleden also offer saunas for the cabin guests. You should equip yourself with the following items for hygiene and care before your mountain hike: Toothbrush Small tube of toothpaste Deodorant Small towel Plaster Abrasion tape Folding scissors to cut abrasion tape with toilet paper Earplugs Washing sponge Small jar with sunscreen Something to protect your eyes from the morning sun in the tent (blindfold /cap) Small bottle of laundry & dish detergent Mosquito repellent ELECTRONICS ON MOUNTAIN HIKING I carry the following electronic gadgets with me when I go mountain hiking after the Kungsleden: Mobile phone for entertainment during air and bus trips to and from the Kungsleden, as well as for filming and photography during the hike. Note! Mobile phones do NOT have coverage during the majority of the Kungsleden! It is only when you approach civilization, as well as at the Kebnekaise mountain station, that there is coverage. I always have the mobile phone in Flight mode so that it does not draw power unnecessarily. If you don't have the mobile in Flight mode, it will search for coverage and wi-fi in vain, which consumes battery. Action camera (DJI Osmo Action) with 2 extra batteries. This camera has a built-in image stabilizer that comes in handy when I want to film while walking. Camera stand / Selfie stick. Works for both the mobile phone and the action camera. Microphone that also works as an MP3 player (Sony ICD-TX650). The microphone is important when I stand or sit so far from the camera that it no longer picks up the sound properly. I also transfer songs in the form of MP3 files to the microphone so that I can listen to hard rock when I get withdrawal from really good music! 🙂 Headphones that came with when I bought my iPhone. I connect them to the mobile phone and the microphone when I want to listen to music. Power bank and power cables to charge all the above mentioned electronics. SUMMARY The most important thing when purchasing equipment for your mountain hike is to start with what is most necessary. Don't skimp on the essentials, you can't live without them. All the equipment mentioned in this article, except the equipment for film and photography, you can consider as necessary equipment. Once you've got all that gear in place, only then can you start stocking up on all your personal gear and other "good-to-have" items. See you out on Kungsleden! 🙂 //Eagle Ore
