Lecture Recording on March 10, 2012 at Salman ITB. Lecture by Mr. Haryatmoko on Epistemology. ::: Compared to science and engineering, social sciences are very rich in theories and concepts. Not only that, these concepts and theories are often tangled or contradict each other. Therefore, those who study social sciences need a problem map and a philosophical compass in navigating the jungle of concepts and theories in this field. This lecture does not intend to create a synthesis of social sciences; nor is it ambitious to use the normative perspective of a philosophy of science; and is not intended to provide a normative basis for how social sciences should be. However, the purpose of this course is more analytical: trying to understand the framework of thought, how social science works, its methods, its basic assumptions and the theories of various social sciences with their implications.
