After a day of trying to find the fault, I was forced to abandon the 2CV and set off into the dunes. The primary goal was to reach the only oasis in the area, about 15 km away. From there, cross an erg (dune area) of 35 km to reach the Atar - Tidjikja axis, from where I could find a vehicle and reach Atar. In Atar I would find a way to return to the 2CV with a mechanic. I never feared for my life because I know the terrain, its water points and its nomadic camps perfectly.
