The transition from fossil fuels such as coal, oil and gas to renewable energies such as solar, wind and water is crucial to achieving sustainable climate goals and conserving resources. Successful implementation would make the energy supply in Germany and Europe even more resilient to geopolitical dependencies and economic crises. Nevertheless, the energy transition is repeatedly met with political and social resistance. No wonder, because in Germany it requires a comprehensive expansion of the infrastructure and the power grid, which is complex and costly. In addition, not everyone is convinced of the necessity of the project. Does politics still see the energy transition as a priority? And what could implementation realistically look like? This is what energy economist Claudia Kemfert, communications scientist Clara Kühner and CDU politician Stephan Gamm will discuss.
