Work is in full swing in Lower Saxony on one of the currently most massive energy transition construction projects in Germany: power lines are being installed at heights of up to 100 meters on a north-south route from the offshore wind farms in the north towards southern Germany. You can find more documentaries in the ARD Mediathek: https://www.ardmediathek.de/dokus At Hann. Münden, senior construction manager Falk Honig and his team are faced with a particularly tricky point on the route: here, the route has to cross the A7 motorway, a busy ICE route and the Werra river several times over a few kilometers. There are repeated delays because coordination in different construction phases with changing teams from all over Europe is demanding. The climbers who are installing the masts at heights of up to 100 meters are coming especially from Latvia, the experts on the cable drums from Portugal, and the helicopter team from the southwest of Berlin. The biggest challenge: the so-called pre-cable pull by helicopter over the busy A7 and the ICE route. Everything just has to be right on this day. This northern report accompanies various phases of the major project and shows how complex the work is in the spirit of the energy transition in Germany, climbing, flying, screwing at lofty heights.
