Today marks the start of the UN Climate Change Conference, which this year is taking place in Baku, the capital of Azerbaijan. We are taking this day as an opportunity to publish our new report in which we critically examine the EU's relations with Azerbaijan. Our research began seven months ago. The reason for this was Azerbaijan's invasion of the Artsakh region in September 2023. The history of the region is complex and long - it is not our aim to deal with it because we simply lack the resources to do so. Instead, we focused on the criticism of the EU gas agreement with Azerbaijan, the COP29, and the human rights issues associated with it. We want to be honest with you: It was not easy. Media coverage and political measures relating to the region are inadequate. We therefore also turned to political decision-makers. Our email request went to over 20 people from the Austrian and European Parliaments. We have received a response from the EU Parliament - more on this in the report. For us as a feminist collective, it is particularly important to give those affected a voice. In the case of the invasion attack in 2023, these are Armenians. But: Our journey continues. In the coming months, we will meet Azerbaijanis who are resisting abroad. Until then, stay curious and FORWARD. #azerbaijan #armenia #cop29
