Following the announcement of the closure of the Meyer Burger (Germany) and Systovi (France) plants, the future of a European photovoltaic industrial sector is in question. The European Commission supports the redeployment of the European photovoltaic industry with the Net Zero Industry Act (NZIA), which provides for the production of 30 GW of solar panels by 2030, with new rules to accelerate the authorization of new plants. In France, major contracting authorities have been called upon to commit to a "Solar Pact". The objective is to produce 40% of the photovoltaic panels used in France by 2030. How feasible is such a reindustrialization in the face of Asian competition? What are the technological and financial challenges to be met? How can Europe meet the challenge?
