❤️ Endometriosis is a disease that occurs when the tissue that lines the inside of the uterus (endometrial tissue) grows outside of it, usually on the surfaces of organs or other places where it is not supposed to grow. This tissue appears in the form of endometriotic settlements or implants. Endometrial tissue is usually found in the pelvic area, either on the ovaries, fallopian tubes, intestine, bladder, and on the outer layer of the uterus. During menstruation, endometriotic implants swell and bleed in the same way as the lining of the uterus. The problem is that this blood has nowhere to go and therefore remains inside the abdomen, which causes severe pain and can form pelvic adhesions between organs and tissues.
