The VAT (Life Beyond Work Movement) intends to end the 6x1 work shift regime (six days of work, one day of rest), provided for in the CLT (Consolidation of Labor Laws), a law created 81 years ago. The discussion flourished on social media and now the idea has been taken up by federal deputy Erika Hilton (PSOL-SP), who is fighting to get 171 signatures so that the text can be filed. The author of the movement, Rick Azevedo, was elected city councilor in Rio de Janeiro by the PSOL party, with the main motto of his campaign being precisely the end of the 6x1 shift. A petition created by the VAT already has more than 2.4 million signatures. The trigger for the creation of the movement was a rant recorded in video form by Azevedo and shared by him on his TikTok profile in September 2023, which had more than 123 thousand likes.
